Approach to Weight Loss
Work demands, home responsibilities, and life in
general can pack our schedule with a lot of
“have-tos” and “gotta-get-dones” to the
sacrifice of our health and well being.
Exercising and eating nutritiously are health
habits that can be pushed to the back burner in
order to “take care of business.”
Perhaps you have noticed that some individuals
seem to be able to incorporate healthy habits
comfortably into their lives and maintain their
ideal weight - while others seem to struggle
endlessly, taking one step forward and two steps
back.
What is the difference between those that are
successful and those that aren’t?
Years of observation have shown the difference
is clear, when the “right” approach is matched
with the “right” person, anything is possible.
How do you find what approach works for you? The
first step is to find out what makes you tick.

The True Colors model is a
simple method for gaining insights into why we
behave as we do. Because, changing behaviors is
almost never a question of capability, but
rather a question of motivation, the True Colors
model holds the key to unlocking our health and
well-being challenges by helping us identify our
intrinsic motivators, strengths, and barriers to
success.

Time is
ticking and we need your help.
Here’s the scoop:
I have been working on a book
that demonstrates
the benefits of using your own
unique combination of
personality strengths to stick
to an exercise program and
healthy eating lifestyle. It is
based on the True Colors
temperament concepts.
This is
a joint project with Heather
K. Jones (Registered Dietician and
publishing professional from the
Nutrition Action Healthletter) and
Ed Redard, M.D., a Family
Practice physician who is
certified in True Colors and
uses it extensively with his
patients with tremendous
success.
Over a 2-year period, Dr. Redard
distributed a survey to his
patients that included a brief
personality test, collected
demographics (age, gender...)
and asked a series of questions
regarding weight management
challenges and successes.
We have held focus groups to
collect further information and
field test our model. So far,
everyone involved has had
wonderful accomplishments in
their weight loss goals.
